92nd
Anniversary REMEMBRANCE DAY 2010 Report:
The
92nd Anniversary Remembrance day Commemoration Service was conducted
at the Burleigh Memorial Cenotaph by the Burleigh Heads RSL
Sub-Branch President Chris Keating, with over 500 in attendance
on a beautiful sunny day. As the Bugler sounded the Last post
at 11am the RAAF had a fly by to remind us all why we are here
today, very moving!.
There
was an excellent attendance of Sub-Branch members, Ladies of
the RSL Auxiliary and other Veterans, ex-service person, members
of the public. Cadets from 133 Army Cadet Unit mounted a catafalque
party and provided a cadet as Flag officer for the service under
the leadership of WO2 Ron Hampson, many thanks for the splendid
contribution. Fr Pat Molony, Honorary Padre, again supported
us with his presence and a most welcomed and meaningful contribution.
Thank you Fr Pat. Samantha Naday, vocalist, again gave us a
most beautiful rendition of the four Anthems, American, Royal,
New Zealand and Australian. Thank you Sam!
Bugler
Brett Whitchurch came all the way from the Sunshine Coast, to
again play the Last Post and the Rouse for our commemoration
service. Many thanks Brett! Grant Maroney, Sound Tech came back
from overseas, Thailand, to assist with the sound equipment
and music. Thanks Grant, especially for such a great effort
considering he only flew back to Brisbane yesterday!
Remembrance
Day in Burleigh Heads is again becoming a most significant and
very meaningful day in the annual calendar for Veterans and
residents and is being well observed as a special day to pay
our respects and remember our fallen, over 102,000 since federation!
"Lest We Forget"
Yours
in service.
