From the desk of the President - March & April 2009

Good day everyone, I hope this report finds you all well and fit. We have moved into the fifth month of the year and winter will soon be upon us.

Financial membership as at the 30 April 2009;
96 Service Members, 124 Life Subscribers and 2 Life Members, total 222.
With regret I have to report five (5) members have not renewed their 2009 subscription, this is a shame as it is so difficult to attain new members and to lose members not renewing their subscription is a great shame!

Sadly, I need to report the passing of three members since my last report:

"Vale" - HENRY (Harry) FREDERICK THOMAS ROTH WW2 2nd AIF ex - NX103427 DIED 8TH March 2009 aged 87.
"Vale" - FREDA MILLARD WW2 RAAF ex - 93567 DIED 15TH April 2009 aged 89.
"Vale" - WILLIAM (Bill) SHERVILL DAWSON WW2 RAN ex -PM3512 DIED 17 April 2009 aged 86.

"Lest we forget"

The AGM and ANZAC Day reports are under separate cover!

Sunday after Anzac day, David Grant, Senior Vice President attended the Burleigh Heads Uniting ANZAC Church service in my stead and reported that the service was very moving and emotional. Jim Watt excelled in the organization and execution of the service and again the church was full to capacity. A wonderful effort and credit to the Burleigh Uniting Church parish, thank you for the invitation to our members and well done and thanks to the members who attended the service.

June 19, 20, & 21, I will be attending the annual RSL State congress in Maroochydore as your delegate and hopefully I may continue to make a difference. I will report any major event to you in the next report.

Back to sub-branch matters, the March social gathering was well attended with thirty-seven members and two Auxiliary ladies. The April monthly general meeting was well attended, fifty-six members and two Auxiliary ladies, considering the number of active members we have lost over recent time we are still the envy of many larger RSL Sub-branch that are unable to attract members to their general meetings, so well done members please keep your efforts!

All the very best to those who have been on sick parade, I hope you all improve and are 100% again. Being crook is not much fun as i can testify, having just recovered from the dreaded sniffles.

Happy birthday to everyone, who have had birthdays recently, and those about to have one. I hope you have a great day and have many more birthdays to come
I sincerely hope you all keep well over the next few months of winter, and hopefully the weather will be kind to all of us.

Christopher Keating
President
