Soldiers, sailors and airmen of Australia’s Federation Guard (AFG) participated in the Turkish International Service at the Çanakkale Martyrs' Memorial on the Gallipoli Peninsular, and took post as the catafalque party at the Commonwealth Memorial Service at Cape Helles.

The Çanakkale Martyrs' Memorial was officially opened in 1960 to commemorate Turkish soldiers who fought in the Gallipoli campaign.

The Cape Helles memorial was constructed in 1924 and stands on the tip of the Gallipoli Peninsular. The memorial bears 21,000 names of UK and Indian soldiers who died throughout the peninsular and Australian soldiers who died at Cape Helles.

The AFG was officially launched on 7 March 2000 at Parliament House in Canberra for the INTERFET welcome home parade.

Ceremonial events have taken the AFG to England, Turkey, Greece, South Korea, Singapore and France.
