"Stop Press" - Burleigh Heads RSL receives Ex-POW tribute

The Sub-Branch was honoured to have President Mr Allan Mahony and Secretary Mr Norm Anderton, MBE, Executive committee members of the Gold Coast & District Ex-POW Association present at the Sub-Branch August General Meeting. President Allan Mahony with the assistance of his side kick & Secretary Norm Anderton presented the Sub-Branch with a framed map of the Burma Railway together with a framed brief History of the Burma Railway written by Norm Anderton. To top off the presentation, they presented a framed photo of the National Ex-POW Memorial in Ballarat donated by Mrs Jean Stone, a widow of an Ex-POW.

We were very appreciative to receive these items and they will be given a prominent place in the Sub-Branch memorabilia section in the RSL Hall. Gold Coast & District Ex-POW Association have called the Burleigh Heads RSL hall home for a number of years and they hold their monthly general meeting each month in the RSL Hall. We are proud to have the EX-POW's as tenants and sincerely hope they will continue to be active for many years to come!
