Yugambeh people remember their fallen service men and women

This year's commemorative event, conducted at the Jebbribillum Bora Ring on Sixth Avenue in Burleigh, in honour of the service and losses suffered by indigenous ex-service men and women was attended by over 100 people. Local dignatories, Greg Betts (Councillor Div 12), David Grant (Lions Club President) and others addressed those gathered with reference to the services provided by these service men and women. Chris Keating, Burleigh Heads RSL Sub Branch President, stated "it was an honour to be asked to participate in this special occasion to recognize the sacrifices of indigenous veterans and their contribution to the defence of Australia for over 100 years".

The service is conducted by the Kombumerri Aboriginal Corporation with assistance from the Burleigh RSL Sub-Branch. A special word of thanks goes to Ray Fellenburg who drove from Toowoomba to Burleigh that morning to assist for the occasion.
