The August 9th General
Meeting of the Burleigh Heads RSL Sub Branch was the venue for
the presentation of a very special RSL membership award. Sub-branch
member, Max Arnold, 87, was presented with the 'Long Service
Award' for 50 years of RSL membership by the sub branch President,
Chris Keating. This rarely achieved award is available to RSL
members who achieve 50 years of cumulative membership in sub-branches.
In order to qualify, a member must be able to prove and document
their membership including details of the sub-branches and dates
of membership.
A very proud Max
stated that in fact he has been a member of the RSL for over
sixty years but was not aware of this award until transferring
to Burleigh Heads RSL a couple of years ago and was very proud
to be receiving this recognition.
Eighty seven members
applauded Max's award and congratulations came from all quarters.
In attendance for the meeting, Kathy Nelson and Ann Maree Grasso,
from the Southport Department of Veterans Affairs VAN Office,
were most impressed by Max's award as they had never seen one
before. These ladies are great supporters of the Burleigh Heads
RSL Sub-Branch.
Congratulations,
MAX ARNOLD from all the members!
