RSL National President,
Major General Bill Crews, announced today that the RSL 90th
Anniversary Youth Program will be launched by the Minister
for Veterans Affairs, The Honourable Bruce Billson MP,
at 2.30pm on Tuesday 6 June in the Presidents Room of
ANZAC House, 4 Collins Street, Melbourne.
The RSL is keen
to invest in Australias future by implementing a nation-wide
education program for schools. The program will have three
components, including magazines, an interactive national education
website, and a multimedia CD Rom. These have been especially
crafted for secondary school students to commemorate the 90th
anniversary year of the formation of the League through a
program focussing on civic awareness and nationhood.
Major General Bill
Crews said, We hope that this will encourage young people
to further value the importance of the role of current and
former servicemen and women in the defence of Australia and
to recognise that the democratic freedom we enjoy is partly
a result of their efforts.
The RSL continues
to invest in Australias future by working with youth
and is proud to officially launch the Civics and Citizenship
Education and Commemoration Program.
