Iroquois Flypast for Canberra Vietnam 40th Anniversary Dedication Ceremony

Fly Past in support of the Dedication Ceremony for the Plaque commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the arrival of 9 Squadron Royal Australian Air Force in Vietnam

Where: The Australian War Memorial, Canberra ACT, Western Fore-court.
When: Saturday 3rd June 2006
Time: Ceremony begins at 1400. Flypast at approximately 1440. Aircraft landing and static display approximately 1450.
Who:

Official guests will be Chief of Army, Chief of Air Force, and Air Chief Marshal Sir Neville McNamara, KBE, AO, AFC, AE (Ret'd)
Background:









Saturday 3 Jun 06 commemorates the 40th Anniversary of the arrival of 9 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force in Vietnam, with its Iroquois (Huey) helicopters. A ceremony to dedicate a plaque commemorating the anniversary will be held at the Australian War Memorial at 1400 hrs. As part of the commemoration, a fly past will be conducted by a UH-1H Iroquois helicopter from the Operations Support Troop, Army Aviation Training Centre. The flypast route will be along Anzac Ave and past the Western fore-court of the AWM. After the flypast, the aircraft will land at the AWM for a static display.

The aircraft involved in the flypast may be considered a Vietnam veteran as it was operated by 9 Squadron during their deployment in Vietnam
