2005 McPherson Community Contribution Awards recognise 2 Burleigh Heads RSL Sub Branch members

Today, 25 October 2005, Margaret May, MP, Federal Member for McPherson, presented 50 community volunteers from the McPherson electorate with "2005 McPherson Community Contribution Awards" at the Trinity Anglican Church, Robina.

The ceremony was hosted by Margaret May and her staff with Mr Paul Broughton, Chairman of Gold Coast Titans, as MC. A very nice morning was had by all with the worthy recipients and their guests. The Church Ladies Auxiliary provided a lovely morning tea.

Two Burleigh Heads Sub-Branch members received Certificates for their tireless contribution to the community over many years. Our worthy recipients were Russ Roland, the current President of the Gold Coast TPI Association, and Alistair McColl, past Senior Vice President of the Sub-Branch. Congratulations to both Members and the other forty-eight recipients; well done and thank you!

I must make mention of our Federal Member for McPherson, Margaret May, who instituted these awards some years ago on being elected to the seat of McPherson. She saw the need for all these unsung volunteers in our community to gain some sort of worthy recognition for their invaluable contribution. A huge thanks must go to Margaret and her staff, Jo, Krystyna and Gwen who always go to a lot of effort to vet the nominations and for all the hard work that they put into organizing these events. Again, thank you!
