Recently, our sub branch President, Chris Keating, and Junior Vice President, Les McKenzie, were invited to attend the October Monthly Meeting of the Gold Coast & District Ex-POW Association by Allan Mahony, President, and Norm Anderton, Honorary Secretary. At the meeting, held on Sunday, October 2nd, their President, Allan Mahony, presented the Burleigh Heads RSL Sub Branch with an Ex-POW Branch Certificate of Appreciation for the commitment, support and association with their organization of many years. The Certificate was accepted on behalf of the Sub Branch by its President, Chris Keating.

In response to the award, Chris Keating thanked the members of the Ex-POW Association and hoped that the association of the two organizations would continue for many years to come.

The Presentation

Following on from this award, Les McKenzie was presented with an Ex-POW Association Personal Certificate of Appreciation for his past and continuing upkeep of the Ex-POW Honour Boards which are housed in the Sub Branch Memorial Hall.

After the conclusion of the meeting and presentations, a social gathering was provided by the members of the Ex-POW Association and the Ladies Auxiliary. A delightful morning tea and cakes combined with stimulating conversation rounded off a perfect morning.
