ALBERT MELVILLE McDONALD
13 January 1922 - 15 March 2011

Ex 2nd AIF WWII - 5th Australian Construction Engineers

Our above esteemed member departed this life on 15th March 2011, aged 89.

Ozzie, as he was know to his friends, joined the RSL in 1945 and transferred to Burleigh Heads RSL in 1995 where he remained until his passing. Ozzie was a keen golfer and played golf every day he could. He attended meetings on rainy days. So much did Ozzie love his Golf and the Burleigh Golf Club. I was often told if Ozzie could, he would sleep there! He never missed commemoration services and actively took part. Ozzie lost his wife, Moyna, a few years ago. Ozzie seemed a bit lost without her. He himself suffered with health issues for the past several years that caught up with him in the end.

Ozzie will be missed by family, friends and members of the sub-branch that knew him.

The funeral service will be conducted by

Heritage Brothers Funerals

and held at the

Heritage Brothers Funeral Chapel
43 Lower West Burliegh Road, Burleigh Heads
on
Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011 at 1100 hours

RSL poppy service will take place
Medals to be worn!

Please try and attend to farewell a comrade and pay your last respects!

VALE - OZZIE MCDONALD

The Club sadly reports the passing of our Life Member Ozzie McDonald this week.

Ozzie had been a member of Burleigh Golf Club for 35 years and was elected to Life membership in the mid 90's for his tireless contribution to the course and club and fulfilling several Committee and Board roles over the years. He had a passion for the golf course and was Chairman of Greens at least twice and spent hours and hours assisting the maintenance team on the course, the gardens and general maintenance.

Whilst he no longer played golf in recent years he was a regular to the club especially on Friday nights and enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow members and always keen to pass onto younger ears his many experiences and anecdotes about the club.

Ozzie will always be a part of Burleigh Golf Club and will be sadly missed.

The funeral has been confirmed for Tuesday March 22 at 11am at Heritage Brothers Funerals Chapel located at 43 Lower West Burleigh Road Burleigh Heads followed by the wake here at Burleigh Golf Club.
