Miami State School commemorates ANZAC Day

Chris Keating and Ray Fellenberg represented the Sub Branch when they attended the Miami State School's Anzac Day Commemoration Service held on the 19th April 2007. Also in attendance were Ray Stevens, Qld State Member for Robina; Steven Ciobo, Federal Member for Moncrieff; Anne Maree Grasso, Community Support Coordinator, Veterans Affairs Network Office Southport; Norm Smith, Member Palm Beach/Currumbin RSL Sub-Branch and Headmaster Mr Graeme Dixon.

The service was conducted by the school captains to a very young enthusiastic audience and they did a magnificent job. Chris was invited to dedicate the Gallipoli Pine Memorial Garden and addressed the children on the significance of Anzac Day. The small pine tree in the centre of the Memorial Garden has been grown from a seed from the remaining lone pine tree at Gallipoli.

"Personally, I was deeply moved by the sincerity and respect displayed by the school children during the service and dedication and I have no doubt that the future of Anzac Day is in very good hands." said Ray Fellenburg, sub-branch secretary.
